I decided to go on a road tip by myself instead of flying and do some camping along the way. Drove to Sioux Falls, SD for my great-nieces graduation and stayed for 3 days and then drove to Lake McConaughy, NE and camped for 3 days.
All packed up and ready for my first solo road trip
My interesting attraction stop in Alliance, NE was Carhenge
Friday I drove about 8 hours to Sioux Falls, SD and saw some very pretty countryside
Stayed at a KOA and nearly froze the first night as it was down in the 30's but the following two nights it was down in the 40's and it was much more comfortable! Things I would suggest as a solo woman traveler.....a porta potty for the tent. It was a lifesaver for me so I didn't have to venture out in the dark!
Campfires and afternoon naps
Drove 2 hours roundtrip on Sunday morning to buy a cup for my Starbucks coffee cup collection and now I can say I've been to Minnesota!
Left Monday morning for Lake McConaughy. This was an 8 hour drive and was a beautiful campsite but no one else was camping yet this season. A little remote for a single woman but I felt safe.
This was a favorite thing for me. I bought a hammock for the first time and found two perfect trees to hang from and enjoyed time relaxing, reading and listening to nature.
7 day road trip with the 1st night in a hotel and 5 nights tent camping. 25 hours driving and 1550 miles.
Colorado, Nebraska, South Dakota, Minnesota, South Dakota, Nebraska and back to the 303!.
